Thanks for bringing the Johnsons into our lives. And we haven’t given up hope of seeing them again.
And then it un-happened to both, and the un-happenings not only made many people happy, but it also made them tune in. But still ….)Įven hard-core fiction skeptics like me remember: It happened to Arrested Development, and it even happened to Star Trek. (Okay, I haven’t had a living grandmother since 1973. I’d skip my grandmother’s funeral to find out how Gaia copes with her two-brother problem, whether Zeb ever friended Eggther on Facebook, and – dammit – just what it was that Anders whispered into Dawn’s ear. And we’re desperate to see how the story ends. But if there’s any chance that our favorite gods will ever walk among us again, just be assured that their fans around the world will tune in with great excitement – even if it’s only for a two-hour telemovie. (Thanks, Air New Zealand, for your in-flight programming!) For me, it won’t be my last. For some of us, it was our first exposure to New Zealand television. Never mind how we got our hands on the show. and Brazil and the U.S., there are a lot of us who fell in love with the Johnson boys at first sight, and never lost that loving feeling. Hell, it even happened to Star Trek.īut just had to let you know: In Canada and Ireland and Australia and the U.K. Buy The Almighty Johnsons: Season 2 Episode 8 on Google Play, then watch on your PC, Android, or iOS devices.
Sometimes it’s just the luck of the draw, and it happens to a lot of great entertainment, all around the world, every year. And viewers mean money, while their numbers don’t necessarily keep up with the fervor of the most rabid fans. We all know these decisions eventually depend on money. But this is coming from someone who has always been so resistant to getting involved with most works of fiction that at age three – and my mom, who is Olaf Johnson’s age, will attest to this – I refused to clap to rescue the supposedly dying Tinker Bell, based on the perfectly reasonable grounds that she wasn’t real. Nope, not the first person to do this, not the last.

This is the first time in my life I’ve ever cried when a TV show was cancelled. I’ve seen TV shows come and go since most of us in the States who watched Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color had to do so in black and white. I’m a fiftysomething American woman living in Canada. Don’t know if anyone even reads them, but I still couldn’t resist. It deserves it, and more.I’m sure you’ve received hundreds if not thousands of letters imploring you to reconsider the cancellation of The Almighty Johnsons. They all have totally unique personalities and goals, and while they're totally badass, they have real traits other than that.Īlthough this show isn't widely known, I hope that it gains a bigger following thanks to it being shown on SyFy. The female characters are my favorites, because they're some of the best written and developed ones I've found. It seems simple, but there are several twists that keep you entertained and invested.

This will cause the other reincarnations of the gods/goddesses to gain their full powers. The ongoing plot is the quest to find the Frigg so that she and Odin (Axl) may be reunited. Out of the four brothers, Anders' arc is the most intriguing to me and his development is definitely the most prominent (especially due to events in the third season that cause him to develop PTSD, which is portrayed realistically). I found myself relating to the characters' unique personalities, and while I found myself disliking one of the main characters (Mike, although you can hardly blame me), I was still totally invested in the character development arcs. It's a great show-the characters are fantastic, funny, and well-written (especially the female characters), and the storyline is well thought-out and not too complicated or simple. It's not popular or widely known outside of New Zealand, but I sincerely hope that it being shown on SyFy gains it a bigger audience. I marathoned through all three seasons and came to the conclusion that this was definitely my new favorite tv show. I first saw The Almighty Johnsons last year and almost instantly fell in love with the characters and storyline.
